Description

This course will provide guidance on workflow processes, including acquiring, creating, documenting, and distributing alternate media to students with print disabilities. Please note that this course focuses on Alternate Media Specialist support. This course is not intended for faculty. 

Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the role of the Alternate Media Specialist, DSPS, and the college in the alternate format accommodation process.
  • Explain what is alternate format and how it benefits students with disabilities.
  • Explain to faculty how the ADA, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, Section 504 of the ADA, and California Assembly Bill 422 from 1999 supports accommodation for students with disabilities.
  • Provide a student-intake and documentation process.
